Establishment of General Incorporated Association Financials ISAC Japan
～To promote the sharing of information between financial institutions to create strategies that combat increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks～

We are pleased to announce that on August 1, 2014, as an association to promote information sharing concerning cyber security among financial institutions, “General Incorporated Association Financials ISAC Japan^※1” (hereinafter, “Financials ISAC Japan”. Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Chairperson Director: Mitsuyoshi Sugaya) was established.From today we will be accepting applications from those companiesn^※2wishing to participate, and fully fledged activities are planned to commence from November 1, 2014.

Financials ISAC Japan, in order to combat increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks, has been established as an association under which member financial institutions cooperate to share information concerning cyber security in areas such as phishing and fraudulent remittance damage control, as well as APT^※3and DDoS^※4attacks, vulnerabilities and zero day threats etc. in order to formulate counter strategies.

While already the similar association in the US （FS-ISAC：Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center, with more than 4,600 member financial organizations, is conducting activities, with the link up between Financials ISAC Japan and FS-ISAC, further promotion of information sharing is expected. In addition, active tie-ups with Japanese financial organizations are planned.

• ※1 ISAC: Information Sharing and Analysis Center
• ※2 Members Companies: Banks, security companies, life and non-life insurance companies, credit card companies and payment service providers.
• ※3 APT is the abbreviation for Advanced Persistent Threat.
• ※4 DDoS attacks: DDoS is the abbreviation for Distributed Denial of Service. Also referred to as Dos, these attacks occur when a large number of computers simultaneously access multiple networks to cause a denial of service.
• ※5 Annual Membership Fees：In the first year since the establishment of the association, membership fees have been halved from those initially announced. Full members (\400,000), Associate Members (\90,000), Affiliate Members (\1,500,000)
• ※6 Affiliate Members: Categorized as information security companies. These members provide information to full members and associate members.
